Ok thanks for the reply! I have Latitude and Google maps on my phone, so I assume that I can't use those. Any idea how I can get local maps added to the phone? Is there a Garmin app that allows for this?

GPS itself uses no data except to speed up the location of the satellites currently visible over your location. Otherwise it will take longer to locate the satellite because the application looks for all of the twenty-four satellites currently in use. Where data may be involved is the downloading of maps to project your position on the globe onto a map. The actual geographical coordinates require no maps. In fact, the earlier GPS devices had no maps. Many of them are still in use. If your phone has locally stored maps, no maps have to be downloaded.

Hello. This is a question for my fellow Koodo plan subscribers (or Telus I suppose too since they both use the same service towers). I switched to an LG Optimus One phone. I just just havve a text & talk combo plan, but I have access to wi-fi at various areas around the city for free data access. I was wondering if using the GPS is seperate from data and can it be used for free? Thanks.
