You can try using earphones if you really want to improve the quality of the sound..

I am happy with my iPhone 4's sound. Another way to find a phone with good sound is to go to the store and try a few out.

You are right, walkman is designed for Music playing. But I don't think it's good at call.

The clarity of the call will be based mostly on the wireless provider that provides service to the device.

Granted, the device does play a slight role, the wireless provider is usually to blame for poor call quality on both incoming and outgoing calls. It is important to note the clarity of incoming and outgoing calls should be roughly the same, depending on the conditions.

I have found the Apple iPhone to offer exceptional call quality on the Verizon Wireless network. I have tested (for a period of 2 weeks) the exact same phone on AT&T's network and noticed a higher instance of dropped calls and choppy/robotic calls. This proves that the wireless network is more to blame for poor quality. I do, however, find that the Apple iPhone has horrible noise cancellation. If I have the TV or radio on and place a call, the person I am talking to can hear the TV or radio as clearly as I can. This sometimes causes them to not be able to hear me.

Personally, out of all the wireless devices I have used over the years, the iPhone on Verizon Wireless' network offers exceptional call quality on top of a large range of other features.

It is advisable to visit a corporate phone store of the provider you choose. You can test the phones, and in most cases, even place test calls free of charge. This may help you narrow down the options.

i found my Android phone ( the Incredible)had a Digital, slightly robotic voice sound during phone conversations. I realize it even more when i got my iPhone and talked to friends with iPhones and/or on Landline phones and the conversations were crystal clear

With my Incredible, which was a great phone, i found myself asking my caller to repeat themselves because i couldn't understand a word/words. It almost drove me crazy, if i used the 3.5 earpiece on my incredible, it was clear.

That's a tough one, I have not found any to even speak on yet.
