I have exactly the same issue with my 8925. Did you ever figure out how to fix it or what is causing it?

I sent an email to HTC, explaining the problem. They responded with saying it is hardware related, but they wouldn't know for sure unless I send it in.

I found some tutorials online on taking the phone apart...didn't seem to complicated since I have all the tools. I might do that to see if there is anything obvious (eg broken wires).

    Thanks for the reply.

Not sure if water has been spilled on the phone at all.

I am guessing all the buttons (except the ones I mentioned that work) share the same connection? If its hardware, this faulty connection would be the cause. If they share seperate connections (ie the keyboard is seperate from the outer keypad), the I think it is kind of weird that all went out at the same time...so software?

Still, the fact that I can't correct it with a hard reset points to hardware.

This phone was a freebie, so it has no value to me unless I could sell it...but who would want a cell phone that doesn't have any functioning buttons? I guess right now it is equivalent to a touch screen only cell phone, so maybe someone would want it. I don't.

Any tutorials on taking this thing apart? I've done plenty of computers/laptops and other electronics, but never cell phones, esp a smartphone.

Definitely sounds like a hardware issue, possibly a faulty connection to the internal board. Has there ever been water or liquids spilled on the keyboard? Wouldn't recommend taking it apart unless you really know what you're doing.

I was given a AT&T Tilt. I initially did a hard reset to start fresh, and everything was working fine (before and after the reset)...but in the middle of playing around with it the keyboard stopped working. I soon discovered most of the external buttons stopped functioning.

There are some buttons that do still work: The directional arrows on the keyboard, the outer directional arrows buttons w/ center select button, the scroll wheel on the side w/ its push button, and the power button. When I push the power button, it brings up PTT, which I thought was wierd because there is a PTT Button (that doesn't work). Holding down power shuts the unit off.

I did another hard reset (this time I had to do it from the menus, since the softkeys weren't working) and still the buttons do not work.

Any ideas? I don't remember changing a setting when the buttons stopped working...even if I did it should have been corrected during the hard reset. I have since unlocked the phone by requesting the code directly from AT&T, but if I can't get the buttons to work I'll stick with the phone I have.

I'm beginning to think it is a hardware thing...? Sucks it was working fine not too long ago.

PS, the backlights on the buttons still work.
