    cell-unlocker
What network is the phone originally from?

Is it unlocked? If it is, most likely case it will work fine with HKs frequency such as Vodafone

I will be traveling to Hong Kong in two months and was wondering the compatibility of this phone while over there. First and foremost, am I correct that GSM is 2G and HSDPA is 3G?

The specifications of this phone lists the following regarding networks:
    GSM Quad-band: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    HSDPA Dual band: 850/1900

For Hong Kong, they use 900/1800 for GSM and they use 2100 for HSDPA (3G). So it looks like this Samsung model covers Hong Kong's 900/1800 GSM, but does not cover the 2100 HSDPA. So when I get the local HK SIM card, does this mean the phone can be used there locally for basic phone calls, basic texting, basic wifi/network internet surfing but cannot be used for video phone calling and faster internet connection? Or will this phone not work at all while I'm there?
