I'm in Canada and hoping to get an unlockable phone, possibly switching between providers.

I'm looking to get my first smartphone, and I definitlely want one with a physical keyboard and that is light weight (HTC phones seem really heavy). I also want the phone to be durable / have good build quality.

I think I would mostly be using the phone for texting and web browsing... and maybe GPS.

I was just about to pick up an unused Palm Pre Plus for really cheap.. with a touchstone charger, because it seems to be the lightest of the keyboard phones from what I've read. The OS seems really slick and intuitive too. It seemed like the perfect option for the longest time...

but now I'm reading about some quality issues with the phone. Dropped calls/missed texts, sharp edges on the phone, lack of scrolling buttons/wheel (??), very poor battery life, running hot, some cases of the screen shattering.

If I could get something like this phone but with much better build quality, that would be great. I am happy to be a year/generation behind in my phone model if I could get what I'm looking for, and at such a good price.

    Any suggestions??
