There is some level of security. One thing is the Apple ID. It must be registered to that computer. Another is that the iDevices can only be paired or registered to up to 5 computers only. You have to unregister a computer before you can back up or use an iDevice on a different computer

Can Anyone Back Up Anyone's Iphone By Simply connecting to the Computer?
I tried my own phone that had a password set.
I connected it to itunes computer and it will not ask for password and will do the backup.
Now connect new phone to same and restore.
This is so dumb. No security at all.
