does the name show up when someone calls you?

Is the number in your phone exactly as it comes up in the list of texts? (does it have a 1 in front of it or not?)

I have just bought a versio smart phone and am having problems receiving texts, the senders name is not appearing, even though they are in my phonebook......please help.
