Indyg, Did you ever find a resolution for this problem? I am having the exact same problem. I have a Samsung SGH-I897

I don't pretend to be a geek, if the people who sold you the phone don't know causing the problem, and you say all your info is entered the same in your contact list, and it happens randomly, there may be no magic answer just by process of elimination of trouble shooting.

We reach a point with our phones when we have to let a TECH look at it because it may be a OS problem. We try to help with USER errors, app tricks and tips, and phone settings, my last suggestion would be to have a TECH look at it. Good Luck

"USER error", really, thanks for your "insight" on the matter but I have asked the Best Buy people who sold it to me and they don't know what the problem is. Please re-read the original post; ALL contacts are entered the SAME and SOME will retain the 10 digits when sending a text and SOME will not. The contacts have been deleted and reentered but the problem still returns. Different methods of texting were tried including replies and none work. Only a manual correction EACH TIME when sending a fresh message will work. Anyone else with anything helpful?

are you sending a text from a contact list, or are typing the number yourself to send. if your sending/composing a text from a contact list make sure your contact list phone number is listed correctly. This sounds like a problem by the way you entered your info.

Go to the contact... edit... and check the info you entered.

you might try to delete the contact, and re-enter the contact/info.

This might be a USER error, so just re-check your steps and info on all the contacts you have a problem, if it always does it on certain contacts only, i would thinks its the contacts.

I have a problem texting with a Samsung Captivate phone SGH-1897. 10 digits are needed to send a text message. All my contacts have all 10 digits included. Yet when I text message some contacts, it will fail because only the 7 digit number appears. Sending a text message to another contact will work fine and all 10 digits appear.
    What is the fix???
