I used to purchase new cell phones and switch providers often back when I used flip phones, but now that I've been using smartphones I don't switch as often. I had my first Android phone for over a year, then I was given another, and about six months later I switched to another provider to save some money. I usually try to stay with the same phone for a while now because of the cost of getting another.

Never until i break or render my present phone useless, which generally takes 1 year!

Mine tend to break but I really do try to keep them at least the 2 years between contract renewals. I have had my current phone for almost 2 years and I can't wait to upgrade.

It seems like most of the people I know are constantly buying new cell phones. In some cases, they're just hard on the devices so they get broken but a lot seem to just 'have to have' the absolute latest technology and features. I'm not as attached to my phone so I tend to research a lot and then keep the phone I buy for as long as it works well. What about you?
