How to Turn Wi-Fi On & Off

When you turn Wi-Fi service on, your phone automatically searches for available WAPs. To turn Wi-Fi on or off, sweep your finger down on the Notifications bar, which will display the notification panel. Touch the 'Wi-Fi' icon to enable or disable it.

How to Connect to a Wi-Fi Network

When you turn on Wi-Fi, your phone searches for available Wi-Fi network access points and displays them in a pop-up list. To search for networks, sweep your finger down on the Notifications bar, which will display the notification panel. Touch the 'Wi-Fi' icon to enable it and an available list will appear. Touch a Wi-Fi connection from the list to connect to it (if password-protected, you will be prompted for a password or key).

How to Manually Add a Network

To add a connection manually, navigate to 'Home > Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks > Wi-Fi Settings'. Under 'Wi-Fi Networks', touch the 'Add Wi-FI Network' option and enter the Network SSID and Security.

    How to Enable Wi-Fi Direct

Sometimes you need to be able to move large amounts of data over a Wi-Fi connection between two devices. Wi-Fi Direct allows that and is easy to use. Navigate to 'Home > Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks > Wi-Fi Direct Settings'. Touch 'Wi-Fi Direct' to enable it and a green check will appear to indicate it is online. Whenever it is activated, it will do the same as regular Wi-Fi and scan for other accessible devices. Touch the desired device to connect to when it appears in the pop-up list.

    How to Activate a Hotspot

You can also share your internet connection directly through what is called a hotspot. To activate this option, 'Home > Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks > Tethering and Portable Hotspot > Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings'. After reading the information, press 'OK' and the settings will appear. Touch the 'Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot' to activate the service.
