After weighing all the suggestion I rec'd I finally bought a HTC Inspire 4G for $209. The reason I did this is because that's what my friend has that has the freezing problem. This way I can experiment with saving the SIM info. factory reset and backup on my phone before do it to my friend's phone.

Thanks again for all the suggestions,
    Bill

I will get an unlocked phone so I can use a provider of my choice. I think that buying a locked phone and then using an unlock code on it is cheaper than buying an unlocked phone.

But first, I will apply the latest ATT update to see if that will alleviate the freezing.

Any ideas, tips and/or recommendations are welcome and appreciated.

Backup your personal data and do a factory reset.
Re-install apps one at a time to test for freezing issue.

I think you should go with Samsung Galaxy S3 because of 4.8 inch Superb Super AMOLED display with saturated colors and high contrast with 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash and HD video recording, 4.0 android operating system, Quad-core 1.4 GHz Processor and 2050 mAh battery capacity. Personally, I prefer Android, but it is whatever you like best. Microsoft is working on Windows Phone a lot, but I believe Android has better support behind it. There are a lot of people supporting Android and a whole community of people working with modifications for it if you would ever be interested in making changes. It is very customizable.

When did you start having a problem with your phone freezing? Has it always happened, or just recently? If recently, it is probably an application that you've downloaded like tavenger5 said. You can try to remove an application that you think might be doing it or you can do a factory reset which will remove everything on the phone and restore it to the condition it was from the factory.

More than likely it is freezing because of some other software that you've installed. If you're comfortable with Android I would stick with Android.

If you want to get a new phone I would suggest the HTC Vivid or One X

What is best. If I keep the HTC Inspire it will be Android. I'll keep it only if I can get rid of the freezing problem.
