Metro PCS is good in big cities. But if you living outside check the signal before you waste your money.

I've always gotten full signal around the house and up until a few months ago it would go out and back in, and then I would be unable to send text messages or make phone calls nearly the whole day. My signal would go from 1 bar to 2 then it would lose service and then repeat. Then it randomly started working again and I haven't had any problems until today. I'm not sure if it's because of the weather (it's currently raining on and off) but even during the rain I've always gotten good signal. And then today it went from full signal to half then to 1 bar and then it would lose signal completely and I've been unable to make phone calls or send text messages (it would take up to 5 tries to send). I'm not sure if I should go to a MetroPCS store or not so I decided to post here. Any explanations would be appreciated. (
Don't know the cause, but I always had problems with metro pcs in general including the ones you list.

Don't know, but I've seen a similar problem.

I have a Samsung 4G LTE phone with MetroPCS, and love using the browser - that is, when I have a connection. Problem is, first, the coverage is nothing like the map advertises. It should cover the closest freeway; but when I drive to (and on) the freeway, there's no coverage. In traveling around my city, I've seen similar gaps.

Second, the signal can disappear, even when you're standing still. Assuming the bars indicate the 4G signal strength, I've seen it literally go from 4 bars to 'no signal' in a second...while standing still. (This is really frustrating when I start to browse!)

Other than unreliable browser service, there's the battery life. When the phone loses signal, it starts 'searching' for one. 'Searching' uses more power; and I end up having to re-charge at mid-day (and in the evening; that's 2 charges per day, average). If service were better, battery would (might?) last longer. Anyway, if I can't recharge when it goes dead, I'm stuck with a brick until I can find power.

Phone call quality varies. When it's poor, I have to ask people to repeat themselves. It can get embarrassing.

I haven't tried Boost (or Virgin), but I'm considering it. I need to be able to talk 24/7.

Well, things are looking up. My ESN has been added to their database and we now have voice and text capability. I'll be content with just that, but is Internet access possible?

Does anyone use the Metro Blackberry? Everything was perfect yesterday, but today anything Blackberry-related (email, web, Facebook, MySpace) has been no-go since this morning. I am able to send/receive text messages and connect to Windows Live Messenger.

It seems like Metro should have done their homework before releasing this thing. I'm willing to hang on for the long haul because Blackberry is an awesome phone, but these outages are getting very discouraging.
