I'm assuming since you posted this last year that you got a phone for the trip. What did you get?

Hey all, I'm going to be traveling abroad soon and am looking for a global phone I can either get unlocked or unlock myself. I'm gonna have to buy one without contract, so I'd rather not get destroyed on pricing. I want something with CDMA and GSM compatibility so when I get back I can use it as my VZW Tbolt backup. Doesn't have to be overly fancy, though I wouldn't mind one I can sync my contacts to. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I've googled and have found nothing solid other than a few phones here and there, mostly too expensive.
