What is the advantage of rooting this phone???
    Hi Camstuf

Well, for starters there are people who simply enjoy trying out different custom ROMs.
Take a PC for example. There are many people out there who disregard the warranty of the components and they overclock them. Some computers come with seals on their cases and many people still open up the case of their PC simply to upgrade or whatnot.

For some, smartphones (especially Androids) are the same. Overclocking and installing all sorts of ROMs can be tempting, but for that you usually need to root your device.

Indeed, rooting and flashing is not recommended for anyone who doesn't want to void the warranty, risk bricking their device or don't have enough knowledge or patience to look for answers if they run into problems.

Rooting your HTC Evo 4G LTE - Step 1:

Before you get started with rooting your HTC Evo 4G LTE you'll need to download the latest HTC drivers for Windows.

    Windows 32 bit: Download HTCEvo4GLTE/drivers/HTC_Driver_64.zip at DownloadAndroidROM.com
    Windows 64 bit: Download HTCEvo4GLTE/drivers/HTC_Driver_64.zip at DownloadAndroidROM.com

Next you'll need to download the necessary rooting files:
    Download HTCEvo4GLTE/rooting/Evo4GLTERoot.zip at DownloadAndroidROM.com

Rooting your HTC Evo 4G LTE - Step 2:

    1. Tap the apps icon on the Home screen and go to "Settings".
    2. In the "Settings" go to "Developer options".
    3. Enable the "USB Debugging" if necessary.
    4. Connect your HTC Evo 4G LTE to your PC and make sure to check the "Charge only" mode.

Rooting Your HTC Evo 4G LTE - Step 3:

    1. After connecting your HTC Evo 4G LTE to your Computer access your PC's control panel.
    2. Access "Device Manager". You can easily find the icon by switching to "Large icons" view. To access "Device Manager" from the "Category" view click on "Hardware and Sound" > click the "Device Manger" option.
    3. If you don't have the necessary drivers installed you'll see a device named "Android 1.0" under the "Other devices" category.
    4. Double-click the "Android 1.0" device.
    5. Access the "Drivers" tab.
    6. Press the "Update Driver" button.
    7. Click on the "Browse my computer for driver software" option.
    8. Select the "Let me pick from a list of devices" option.
    9. Click on "Have Disk".
    10. Click "Browse" and access the recently downloaded folder containing the HTC drivers.
    11. Access the folder and double-click "HTC Driver" > "Driver Files" > "Vista_x32" (or 64, whichever the case) > double click the "androidusb.INF" file and click "OK" followed by "Next".

Root your HTC Evo 4G LTE - Step 4:

    1. Access the "Evo4GLTERoot" folder you've downloaded at the beginning of this guide.
    2. Double-click "runme.bat" and press "Enter".
    3. Be patient as your handset reboots a few times during the process.
    4. Once the process is complete you should see the "Press any key to continue…" message in CMD. Press Enter to close the window.
    5. In case your HTC Evo 4G LTE will not boot by itself, hold down the power button and start the handset manually.
    6. Once you gained access to the Home screen, disconnect your HTC Evo 4G LTE from your PC.
    7. Tap the "Apps" icon on the Home screen and look for the "SuperSU" app.
    8. Access the "SuperSU" app and tap "Continue" followed by "OK".
    9. If you've followed these steps accordingly you should now have finished rooting your handset. To make sure, try to run a root app.
