    There usually isn't an easy way to get a number back.

    If it was cancelled when it shouldn't have been, I would recommend you keep asking for a supervisor, and contact the FCC if necessary. If the account was cancelled because the customer didn't pay for so many days or months, then it isn't the carrier's fault, and there isn't much that can be done about it.

    My phone number was terminated by MetroPCS last Monday. MetroPCS said they cannot re-activate the old phone number that they canceled. Now, I've got a new plan with T-Mobile (not actually a plan - it's prepaid).

    What will happen with my old phone number? Someone else will eventually get it, correct?

    I figure I can sign up with another carrier for a contract plan, try to request a my old number if it's available, and then port the number to my current carrier (T-Mobile).

    Do any of you suggest any tips or tricks to getting my old number back? I'm willing to go the distance.

    And have any of you ever tried to do this?
