You need to change the APN settings. Try this:
1. Select Settings
2. Select General Settings
3. Select Network (or Cellular in iOS 6)
4. Turn ON Cellular Data
5. Select Cellular Network
6. Select APN
7. Enter the following information:
Cellular Data
APN: att.mvno
Username: [leave it blank]
Passowrd: [leave it blank]

MMS
APN: att.mvno
Username: [leave it blank]
Passowrd: [leave it blank]
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: proxy.mvno.telrite.com:80
MMS Max Message Size: [leave it blank]
MMS UA Prof URL: [leave it blank]

Internet Tethering
APN: att.mvno
Username: [leave it blank]
Passowrd: [leave it blank]
