Hello, here is a good read for you. This will give you some idea of price of prepaid.
Remember wherever you move make sure you get good service ,different providers have great service in some areas and absolutely terrible in others. I like prepaid you spend a little for your phone but you save a lot as opposed to a two year contract . http://www.makeuseof.com/.../get-you...-save-hundreds . There's many more options! I hope this helps? Good luck brother!

How many minutes and text messages do you need? Do you use the Internet on the phone a lot? I can try to help you find a plan.

    Yep, that's it.

If you want to get an iPhone 5, you can save a bit upfront if you sign a 2 year contract with a major provider, like Verizon. You'll get 4g LTE too. Otherwise with prepaid you'll probably end up paying full price for the phone, and not get 4g LTE.

Yes, 'pay as you go' exists, it's just called prepaid. There are several prepaid operators you could go with in the US that you could probably use your existing iPhone with. You would just need to change the APN settings to the new providers.

The prepaid service would have to be GSM, so for example, you wouldn't be able to use Boost Mobile, Sprint or Verizon prepaid. Here is a list of US GSM providers (ones that use other company towers are prepaid) http://cellphoneforums.net/general-s...-carriers.html

    Hey Guys.

I hope this thread is in the correct place and all that but basically im here looking for some advise. In 2 months time my family and i are moving to the US, Kansas to be exact, and i need some help and advice in order to understand the way cell phone companies work out there I currently have an iphone 4 on what is called a "Pay as you go tarrif" and was wondering if such a thing exists in the states; in essence it means that i payed for my iphone in full and then buy certain bundles on a non contract basis, so at present i pay £10 ($15) a month and get 100 minutes, 3000 text messages and 500mb of internet.

In addition i am aware that iPhones can be bought on contact however im confused about the price as it does seem quite high, i would be looking to buy an iphone as i will be making use of the iMessaging service and its smartphone features to keep in contact with everyone at home.

Could anyone please give some advice on what are the best places, packages and deals to get that would be similar to what i have now?

    Thank You in Advance...
    Tim.
