You have to figure its almost a computer in these things now. A 1ghz processor will conduct a lot of heat without a heat-sink and fan much like computers Also mines was hot once I turned it off and bam it was cold as of no electricity running through the phone

Batteries generate heat while charging and discharging (In use).
Prolonged use while charging may cause overheating.
Most common example would be using Android phone & Google Navigation while charging or docked.

It may also be liquid damage and connectors are not working properly. Does your friend have a Sam M300? I've seen a couple phones of this model heating up for no reason.

The battery is overheating due to poor design.

I have a friend who has a Samsung cell phone from Sprint and quite often when he is talking on it (after only about 10 minutes) it gets so hot that he has to put it down.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing the problem?

    Thanks!
