    Thanks very much for the reply, Katerina. Unfortunately I was under a bit of time pressure, so I went ahead and bought a Nexus 4.

    It was more than I wanted to spend, and it doesn't have a slide-out keyboard, but at least I know it won't be unuseably slow.

    Check out Samsung Galaxy 5510. It is a very decent Android smartphone of previous generation.

    Yes, a GSM Android phone, unlocked, with the above 4 constraints.

    I realize there are probably hundreds of models out there which fit the above. I was hoping somebody could help me separate the wheat from the chaff.

    Thanks!

    So it sounds like you need a GSM Android phone, right?

    Hello,

    I'm new here, I tried to post my provider and phone (Samsung m-910, PlatinumTel), but it doesn't seem to have my provider listed.

    I'm looking for an unlocked Android GSM phone to use on the PlatinumTel network. I gather they are switching from being an MVNO for Sprint, to a MVNO for T-Mobile? I understand that my current Samsung Intercept will no longer work.

    I don't need the best of the best -- which is what all the reviews I can find seem to be focused around. Can somebody make a suggestion?

    My main gripe with my current phone is that it is so slow as to be unuseable as a web browser. This may be due to all the crap that Sprint put on there (An un-erasable Nascar app that runs at boot? Really?) Plus, there's some sort of bug that won't let me update my apps if I've ever moved them to the SD card. So, what I'm looking for is:

    * Fast enough that I can find out when the next bus is arriving, before the next bus arrives
    * slide-out keyboard
    * under $200...preferably, under $150
    * No major phone-killing bugs

    Can anybody recommend a phone that they're happy with?
