Master Resetting Using the Settings Menu:

WARNING! Master resetting your device will restore the original factory settings. Additionally, personal data saved on the handset's internal storage will be lost, including custom ringtones, photos, downloaded content and contacts. Master resetting your device will not delete data that is stored on the SIM or SD card.

    1. If necessary, back up the data stored on your handset's internal memory. Click this link if you wish to learn how to back up and restore data
    2. While on the home screen, tap "All apps"
    3. Press "Settings"
    4. Under "Personal", tap "Backup and reset"
    5. Scroll down to "Personal data", and then tap "Factory data reset"
    6. Tap "Reset phone" and let the device cycle through the resetting process

    Master Resetting Using Hardware Keys:

If master resetting using the settings menu is not an option due to your device freezing, crashing or being unresponsive, you can use the hardware keys in order to master reset your device. WARNING! Master resetting your handset using hardware keys will result in loss of personal data that is stored on the device's internal memory.

    1. Back up your data if necessary. Click here to learn how to back up and restore data
    2. Turn off your handset
    3. Remove the back cover and the battery
    4. Remove the SIM card
    5. Wait for a few seconds, then reinstall the SIM card and the battery, and replace the back cover
    6. Press and hold the "Volume up" and "Power" button at the same time, until the screen lights up
    7. Once prompted for language, use the "Volume up" and "Volume down" buttons to navigate through the menu
    8. Press the "Power" button to enter "Recovery Mode"
    9. Navigate to and highlight "Wipe data / factory reset"
    10. Press the "Power" button to select the option and let your device cycle through the resetting / rebooting process
