There are several ways that someone can spoof a phone number or even copy a sim card. It's also possible that there is something wrong with the contacts in your phone and the wrong message got assigned to the wrong number.

I received a text message yesterday from someone. However she said she never sent that message to me, she sent a completely
different text message. What is going on? Can someone else be sending a message through her phone? Has anyone heard
    of this happening before?
