    Managing Connections

    Disabling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth:

In order to conserve battery life, it's recommended that you disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use. To do so:

    2. Tap the "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth" tiles to disable thse features

Disabling GPS When Not in Use:

GPS is a very demanding feature on a smartphone, so it's strongly advised to disable this feature when not in use. To do so:

    1. Swipe the status bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Tap "Locations"
    4. Unmark the check box associated with "Location sources" in order to disable GPS

    Managing Sleep Mode:

You can enable Sleep mode in order for your phone to automatically disable all data connections after a certain period of time of inactivity. Battery life can be saved because there will be no network activity, including streaming, data usage or downloads. Data connections will automatically enable once the screen is turned on. To enable this feature:

    1. From the home screen, swipe down using two fingers
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Under "Phone", tap "Power"
    4. Tap "Sleep mode" to enable the feature

Managing the Display Settings to Increase Battery Life

Using Automatic Brightness or Setting a Lower Value:

    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Under "Phone", tap "Display, gestures & buttons"
    4. Tap "Brightness"
    5. Unmark the "Automatic brightness" check box
    6. Drag the "Brightness" slider to the left and set it to a lower level

Setting the Screen Timeout to a Shorter Duration:

After a certain period of inactivity, your smartphone's screen automatically turns off. You can set a shorter duration of time between your last action and the time when the screen turns off.

    1. Swipe the status bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Under "Phone", tap "Display, gestures & buttons"
    4. Tap "Sleep"
    5. Select a lower value, such as 15 or 30 seconds

Changing From a Live Wallpaper to a Static One:

Live wallpapers can be very demanding on your phone's battery. If you wish to maximize battery life, it's a good idea to use a simple picture as your wallpaper. A black background can also slightly increase battery life, as the more color is being displayed, the more battery is used.

    1. From the home screen, drag the status bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the "Settings" tile
    3. Under "Personal", tap "Personalize"
    4. Tap "Wallpaper"
    5. Select either "HTC wallpapers" or "Gallery"
    6. Choose the desired picture, crop it if necessary and tap "Done" or "Accept"

Set the Web Browser to Dim the Screen While Loading Pages:

You can set your web browser to auto dim the display while loading webpages. To do so:

    1. Open the "Internet" app
    2. Tap the "Menu" icon depicting three vertical dots
    3. Tap "Settings" > "Accessibility"
    4. Mark the check box associated with "Dim screen during page loading"

Disabling Touch Sounds and Haptic Feedback:

    1. From the home screen, swipe down using two fingers
    2. Tap the "Settings" tile
    3. Under "Phone", tap "Sound"
    4. Unmark the check boxes associated with "Vibrate", "Touch sounds" and "Vibrate on touch"

    Limiting Background Data and Sync

Changing the Sync Time for Your Email Accounts:

In case you have more than one email account, you may consider prolonging the sync time of some accounts in order to increase battery life. To do so:

    1. Open the "Mail" app
    2. Select an account
    3. Tap "Menu" > "Settings" > "Sync, Send & Receive"
    4. Adjust the settings under "Sync schedule"

    Changing the Weather Sync Settings:

When not traveling, you may want to change the weather sync settings so that the system updates your current location only, instead of all of your named cities. To do so:

    1. Open the "Weather application"
    2. Tap the "Menu" button
    3. Tap "Edit" and remove unneeded cities

    Disabling Data Sync:

When your battery is running low, you can temporarily disable syncing some data so that you can prolong battery life. To do so:

    1. Access the "Settings" menu
    2. Tap "Accounts & sync"
    3. Uncheck the desired sync options

    Managing Applications

You can increase battery life by uninstalling or disabling apps that you don't use. Keep in mind that even if you don't use an app, it can still drain your battery because many apps run processes or sync data in the background. To uninstall or disable an app:

    1. Swipe down from the top of the home screen using two fingers
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Tap "Apps" and go to the "All" tab
    4. Select the desired app and tap "Disable"
    5. To uninstall an app, open the app drawer, tap and hold the desired app and drag it on top of the "Uninstall" button located at the top of the screen

Keep Your Apps Up To Date:

It's highly recommended that you keep your applications up to date, as certain updates include battery performance improvements. To update your apps:

    1. Access the "Play Store"
    2. Swipe from left to right and tap "My apps"
    3. Under the "Installed" tab, tap either "Update all", or select the desired apps and tap "Update"

Enabling and Managing Power Saver Mode

The Power Saver Mode allows you to save battery life by decreasing screen brightness, under-clocking the CPU and more. The Power Saver Mode automatically turns on when your battery reaches the "Yellow" levels. You can customize and enable Power Saver Mode at any time by performing the following:

    1. Swipe the status bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap the "" button associated with the "Power Saver mode" tile
    3. Mark the check boxes associated with the features that you wish to disable
    4. Tap the "On / Off" switch to enable Power Saver Mode
