While we all care about a smartphone's processing power, camera capabilities and / or screen quality, the main component that makes everything tick is the battery. As such, it's very important that you manage your battery well, so that you can get the most out of it. Below you will find a handful of tips on how to increase battery life on your Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.

Disabling Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS:

When not in use, it's always a good idea to disable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It is highly recommended that you disable GPS whenever possible, as this feature is very demanding on your battery.

1. While viewing the home screen, swipe the status bar down
2. Tap the "Bluetooth", "Wi-Fi" and "GPS" switches to disable these features

NOTE: a grayed-out switch means that the feature is disabled

Decreasing Screen Brightness and Adjusting Screen Timeout:

The screen of a smartphone is one of the most battery-demanding components in your smartphone. Fortunately, there are ways to increase battery life by adjusting your screen brightness and screen timeout. Remember that Super AMOLED displays are power efficient mainly because, as opposed to how LCD panels work, a black pixel on an AMOLED is achieved by shutting off that pixel, thus energy is not required. A lower brightness can get you a long way.

1. While on the home screen, tap "All apps"
2. Tap "Settings"
3. Under "My Device", tap "Display"
4. Tap "Brightness" and drag the slider to a lower yet still readable / comfortable level. NOTE: "automatic brightness" needs to be disabled in order to gain access to the slider
5. To adjust screen time-out, go back to the "Display" menu and tap "Screen timeout"
6. Adjust the delay before the screen automatically turns off. Select a lower value, such as 15 or 30 seconds

Changing from a Live Wallpaper:

A live wallpaper can have a big impact on your smartphone's battery, so it's a good idea to use a static wallpaper if you wish to maximize battery life. As mentioned above, since the Galaxy S4 Zoom features an AMOLED-type display, you can actually gain some battery life by setting a darker (or black) wallpaper.

1. While on the home screen, tap and hold an empty area
2. Tap "Set wallpaper"
3. Select the location where you wish to change the wallpaper, such as "home screen"
4. Select either "Gallery" or "Wallpaper"
5. Choose the image that you wish to use and tap "Set wallpaper" or "Done"

Enabling Power Saving Mode:

Power saving mode is a feature that, once enabled, will increase your phone's battery life by decreasing or tuning certain settings. To enable and manage this feature:

1. From any of the home screens, tap "All apps"
2. Tap "Settings"
3. Tap "More" > "Power saving mode"
4. Press the "On / Off" switch associated with "Power saving mode", in order to enable or disable this feature
5. To customize this mode, tap the check boxes associated with the following options:
   
   • CPU power saving: this option allows you to conserve battery life by limiting the maximum CPU performance
   • Screen power saving: this feature automatically lowers the screen power level
   • Turn off haptic feedback: while enabled, your smartphone will not vibrate when you tap the screen
   • Auto enable: with this feature checked, Power Saving Mode will automatically turn on once your smartphone's battery drops below 20%
