I DONT want to be tracked without my permission. I've also unchecked USE GPS SATELLITES but wanted to know for certain that there is not a GPS signal broadcast from my phone without my knowledge.

    Thanks.

Do you mean E911? On my phone (GS3) you can't turn off the E911 setting. Fortunately there is a protocol in place that will only allow it to be used when calling 911. I'm sure it's possible to circumvent the system, but that would technically be illegal. You can read more about how the system works here: Enhanced 9-1-1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I unchecked Use GPS satellites under Settings when I got the phone but I do not know for certain that the GPS chip inside my phone is not broadcasting my location.

I read that following 911, the Bush Administration mandated that all cell phones sold within the United States contain a GPS chip for location broadcasting. I dont know if this mandate gave the consumer the option for disabling the GPS signal, or not.

I believe on the S2 you can just go to Settings > Location services and uncheck GPS.... or a faraday cage This will turn off GPS for every app though.

Is there any way know to man to either BLOCK or DISABLE permissions found in GAPPS? I want especially to block or disable GAPPS that "permit" fine or coarse GPS.

Is there an option to disable or halt the GPS in a Galaxy S 2 phone permanently?

Is rooting the phone a path to halt GPS? ( I cant always remove the battery or carry my phone in a faraday cage to block the GPS signal emitted).

Thanks to all the technical and avid enthusiasts who share my privacy views by reading this post.
