Transferring contacts from an iPhone to an Android device might seem like a difficult and tedious task, but with the proper tools you can get the job done in no time. This is a guide that includes four easy methods of transferring your contacts from an iPhone to the Sony Xperia C. Each method has its advantages, so you should pick the one that you find most suitable for your needs.

Using iTunes to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

iTunes is a powerful tool, and gives an iPhone user the opportunity to transfer contacts to an Android device. To use this method, you need access to a computer with iTunes installed. If you need the software, visit the official Apple website and download the client.

    1. Launch iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone to it using the USB cable
    2. Once connected, your iPhone should appear in iTunes. Click it to view the handset's summary page
    3. Go to the "Info" tab
    4. Mark the check box associated with "Sync Contacts With"
    5. From the drop-down menu, select "Google Contacts"
    6. Enter your Google account's username and password, in case you haven't done so before. Alternatively, you can click "Configure" and select a previously set Google account
    7. Click "Apply" and allow iTunes to sync your contacts
    8. On your Sony Xperia C, register the same Google account used in iTunes, if necessary. To add a new account, go to "Settings" > "Accounts
    9. Allow the Google account to sync the contacts with your Android device

Using iCloud to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

Assuming that you've used the iCloud services on your iPhone before, then your contacts have most likely been already backed up onto your iCloud account. You can transfer these contacts to the Xperia C by doing the following:

    1. On your computer's Internet browser, go to www.icloud.com
    2. Log in with your iCloud account
    3. Click "Contacts" and from the list, select the contacts that you wish to export
    4. Click the icon depicting a cog wheel, located in the lower-left side of the window
    5. Select "Export vCard" and allow your computer to download the VCF file containing the contacts
    6. Import the VCF file to "Google Contacts"
    7. Alternatively, connect your Xperia C to your computer via USB and copy the VCF file to the "sdcard" directory. Then, open the contacts app, press the "Menu" icon > "Import contacts" > "SD card", select the desired account and the proper VCF file

Using the "My Contacts Backup" Application to Transfer Contacts:

"My Contacts Backup" is an iOS application that allows you to create a VCF file and send it to your Xperia C via email.

    1. On your iPhone, visit the App Store and download the "My Contacts Backup" application
    2. Open the app and tap "Backup"
    3. Once done, a VCF file containing your contacts will be created. Tap "Email" to attach this file to an email
    4. Send the email to your own Gmail account
    5. On your Xperia C, open the email containing the VCF file and download it in order to import the contacts

Using the "Bump" Application to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

"Bump" is both an iOS and Android application that allows you to easily transfer contacts using cloud connectivity. This method doesn't require access to a computer. However, you will need an active Internet connection on both smartphones.

    1. Install Bump on your iPhone by searching for it on the App Store
    2. Visit the Play Store with your Xperia C and install Bump
    3. Launch the application on both smartphones, and allow permissions
    4. On the iPhone, go to the contacts section and select the contacts that you wish to share
    5. When the label "Bump Now!" appears in the top-right corner, you can gently bump your two smartphones together
    6. A "Connect" button should appear on both smartphones. Tap it, and wait for the iPhone contacts to be copied over to the Xperia C
