    Back Up Applications:

    1. While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button
    2. Tap "Settings" and go to the "Accounts" tab
    3. Tap "Backup and reset". NOTE: in order to back up your apps you need to be logged in to a Google account. If you need to add one, tap "Backup account" > "Add account" and follow any self-explanatory steps
    4. If necessary, mark the check boxes associated with "Backup my data" and "Backup account"

    Backing Up Contacts to a Samsung or Google Account:

    1. Tap the "Contacts" icon located on the home screen
    2. Press the "Menu" button
    3. Tap "Merge contacts"
    4. Select either "Merge with Google" or "Merge with Samsung"
    5. If necessary, sign in with your Google or Samsung account

    Backing Up Contacts to Your SD Card:

    1. Open the "Contacts" application
    2. Press the "Menu" button and tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
    3. Press "Menu" again and tap "Import / Export" > "Export to SD card"
    4. If required, enter a name for the backup file (or record the name) and tap "OK"

    Backing Up Media Files on Your SD Card:

    1. Tap the "All Apps" icon from the home screen
    2. Tap "My Files" > "All files"
    3. Select "Device storage". NOTE: if you want to back up all the files, press "Menu" > "Select all" and skip to step 6
    4. Navigate to where the desired media files are located. NOTE: pictures captured with the camera app are located in the "DCIM" folder. Other media files can be found in "Notifications", "Downloads" etc.
    5. Mark the check box associated with the files / folders that you want to back up
    6. Press the "Menu" icon located in the upper-right corner
    7. Select "Copy". Alternatively, tap "Move" if you don't want to create duplicates
    8. Tap "SD memory card" and navigate to the desired backup folder
    9. Tap "Paste here" or "Move here" depending on your initial selection

    Backing Up Media Files on Your Windows Computer:

    1. Use the USB cable to connect your smartphone to your PC
    2. Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
    3. In the Auto-Run window on your computer, choose to browse the device's files / folders. Otherwise, navigate to where the media files are stored on your smartphone's storage
    4. Copy the files that you want to back up, and navigate to where you want to save them on your PC
    5. Paste the files in the desired location and once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your handset from your computer

    Backing Up Media Files on Your Mac Computer:

    1. If necessary, use your Mac's Internet browser to visit SAMSUNG KIES and click "Download for Mac OS", then install Kies
    2. Establish a connection between your phone and computer via USB
    3. Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device". Then, mark the "Media device" check box
    4. On your Mac, open "Kies"
    5. In Kies, click the "Back up / Restore" tab, then go to "Backup"
    6. Mark the check boxes associated with "Music", "Photo" or any other items that you want to save. Alternatively, click "Select all items"
    7. Click "Backup"
    8. Once the process is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from your computer
