Using Your Google Account to Transfer Contacts:

Using your Google account, you can sync the contacts saved on the Samsung Galaxy Note II, allowing you in turn to re-sync the contacts from the Google account with your Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. This is a common method of contact transfer and it can be done by following the steps below:

    1. Sign in with your Google account on the Galaxy Note II
    2. Press "Menu" while on the home screen
    3. Go to "Settings"
    4. Under "My accounts", tap "Google"
    5. Tap your "user name" or "email address"
    6. Mark and clear the check box next to "Sync Contacts". Alternatively, tap "Sync now"
    7. On the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, register the same Google account as the one used on the Note II
    8. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
    9. Go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
    10. Under "My Accounts", select the desired account
    11. Press "Menu" > "Sync all"
    12. You should now receive all the contacts stored on your Google account

Transferring Contacts using "Import / Export":

You can use the contacts / people app in order to export the contacts from the Note II in the form of a vCard file, which can then be transferred to the Galaxy S5 Active using a computer or via email. To perform this method:

    1. Launch the "Contacts" app on the Note II
    2. Go to the "Contacts" tab and press "Menu"
    3. Select "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
    4. Press "Menu" and tap "Import / Export"
    5. Tap "Export to SD card". NOTE: you should remember the name of the backup file for future use
    6. Tap "OK"
    7. Open the email app and compose a new email
    8. Attach the VCF file to the email and send it to your own Gmail address
    9. Switch over to the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active and open the email containing the vCard
    10. Download the file and launch the "Contacts" app
    11. Press "Menu" > "Import / Export" > "Import from SD Card" > select an account and load the vCard file

NOTE: you can also use a computer to transfer the VCF file from one phone to another. All you need to do is to connect both smartphones to the PC via USB, and copy the vCard file from the Note II to the Active

Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:

Send Anywhere is an app that can be used to transfer contacts from one phone to another through a P2P connection. As such, you are not required to have access to a computer in order to complete this method

    1. Visit the Google Play Store and download "Send Anywhere" on both devices
    2. Launch the app on both smartphones
    3. Switch to the Galaxy Note II and tap "Send" > "Contacts"
    4. Select the contacts that you want to transfer and tap "Send"
    5. Choose the desired transfer method. You can tap "Generate QR Code" on the Note II in order to create a code that can be scanned with the Active's camera in order to commence the transfer. You can also tap "Receive" on the Active, and enter the randomly generated transfer code from the Note II
