    Transferring Contacts via Google Account:

Using a Google account you can sync the contacts on the HTC Butterfly S with Google, allowing you to then re-sync the contacts from the account with a different smartphone, such as the HTC One M8. To perform this method of contact transfer:

    1. Sign in with your Google account on the HTC Butterfly S
    2. Drag the "Notification" bar down using two fingers
    3. Tap "Settings"
    4. Under "Personal", tap "Accounts & sync"
    5. Tap "Google" and select an account
    6. Touch the "Menu" button located in the top-right area of the screen, and tap "Sync all". (NOTE: you can clear and mark the "Contacts" check box if you wish to sync contacts only)
    7. Switch over to the HTC One M8 and log in with the same Google account
    8. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
    9. Tap "Accounts & sync" and select the Google account
    10. Allow the account to sync contacts with your M8

Using the "Import / Export" function to Share Contacts:

You can create a vCard backup file on the HTC Butterfly S, containing all of the smartphone's contacts. Then, you can transfer this vCard file to the One M8 via email or using a PC, as explained below

    1. Open the "People" app on the Butterfly S
    2. From the "People" tab, tap "Menu"
    3. Select "Manage contacts" and tap "Import / Export contacts"
    4. Tap "Export to phone storage" (or SD card) and select an account
    5. Make sure you write down the vCard file's name and path, and then tap "OK"
    6. Launch the email application and compose a new email
    7. Attach the vCard file to the email, and send it to your own Gmail address
    8. On the HTC One M8, open the email containing the attachment, and download it on your phone
    9. Next up, launch the "People" app
    10. Tap "Menu" > "import / Export contacts" > "Import from phone storage" (or SD card)
    11. Select an account if necessary and browse for the vCard file to load

NOTE: once you have obtained the vCard file from the Butterfly S, you can transfer it to the HTC One M8 by connecting both smartphones to a computer via USB, and manually transfer the file from one phone's storage to the other.

    Sharing Contacts through "Send Anywhere":

"Send Anywhere" is a third party application that can be used to transfer contacts and various other types of files cross-platform. This method doesn't require access to the internet, as the transfer is done via a peer-2-peer connection.

    1. Go to the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on both smartphones
    2. After the app has been installed, open it on both handsets
    3. From the HTC Butterfly S, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
    4. Select the contacts that you wish to share
    5. Tap "Send" and select a method of transfer

NOTE: you can tap "Receive" on the HTC One M8, and write the randomly generated code from the HTC Butterfly S in order to commence the transfer. Alternatively, you can tap "Generate QR Code" on the Butterfly S, and scan the code with the One M8's camera in order to proceed with the transfer.
