I just ended a chat with the lg tech confirming the fact that the lg306g is not designed to let you know any details of incoming messages until you open the sender's "pandora's box". No number, name, size, content. It's a good thing a message could not have a Javascript worm or malware (or maybe they can).

I receive text messages that appear in my inbox as "New Message". When I view the message and have minutes deducted, I am only shown the number of the sender. After I close the viewer the inbox finally shows the sender's name.

According to a Net10 tech chat - The lg306g is programmed to never identify incoming text messages. Anyone with an axe to grind can send you endless streams of spam to burn your minutes because there is no way for you to know who is sending the messages.

Although I like almost all aspects of this phone - I will have to consider returning it for another. I asked the NET10 tech guy if there is a database that identifies this shortcoming with other phones they offer, but I guess there is no way to know until you buy and try the phone.

Jings and crivvens, help ma boah.
