Power Saving Mode and Display Settings

    Enabling Power Saver Mode:

NOTE: enabling Power Saver Mode allows you to gain more battery life from your smartphone. The mode can automatically decrease the screen brightness, limit connectivity and lower performance once the battery reaches yellow levels. To enable this mode:

    1. While on the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar using two fingers
    2. Tap the "" button associated with the "Power Saver Mode" tile
    3. Mark and / or clear the check boxes next to the features that you wish to be disabled or enabled during Power Saver
    4. Tap the "Power Saver" tile to enable the feature

    Adjusting the Screen Brightness:

    1. From any home screen, drag the "Status" bar down with two fingers
    2. Tap "Settings" and scroll to "Phone"
    3. Tap "Display, gestures & buttons"
    4. Touch "Brightness" and clear the "Automatic brightness" check box
    5. Drag the "Brightness" slider to the left to decrease the brightness

    Changing the Timeout Duration:

    1. Swipe the "Notification" bar down with two fingers
    2. Tap the "Settings" tile and swipe to "Phone"
    3. Tap "Display, gestures & buttons" > "Sleep"
    4. Select a lower value, such as "15 seconds"

    Disabling the Live Wallpaper:

NOTE: live wallpapers can drain your phone's battery fast, especially if the wallpaper is CPU and GPU demanding. As such, it's recommended that you disable live wallpapers, and use static images instead. To do so:

    1. From any of the home screens, drag the "Status" bar down
    2. Tap "Settings" and go to "Personal"
    3. Tap "Personalize" > "Wallpaper" and select between "Gallery" and "HTC Wallpapers"
    4. Select the desired image and tap "Done" or "Accept" to set it. When selecting an image from the Gallery, you will need to crop / resize it before applying it

Disabling Haptic Feedback and Touch Sounds:

    1. Tap "Applications" while viewing a home screen
    2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Sound"
    3. Tap "Phone" and clear the check boxes next to "Vibrate on touch", "Touch sounds" and "Vibrate"

Dimming the Display While Loading Web Pages:

NOTE: You can set the default HTC Internet browser to dim the display while loading web pages, thus preserving the battery on the long run. To do so:

    1. Launch the "Internet" application
    2. Tap "Menu" and go to "Settings"
    3. Tap "Accessibility" and mark the "Dim screen during page loading" check box

    Managing Applications

    Uninstalling / Disabling Applications:

NOTE: Even when they're not in use / open, certain third party applications can still have a negative impact on your phone's battery life, as they can still run services in the background. That being said, it's recommended that you disable or uninstall third party apps that you don't use.

    1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Apps"
    3. Swipe to the "All" tab and select the desired application
    4. Tap "Disable" to turn off the app
    5. Alternatively, tap "Uninstall" > "OK" to completely remove the app

    Keeping Your Apps Updated:

    1. Launch the apps drawer
    2. Go to the "Google Play Store"
    3. Access the "My Apps" section and go to the "Installed" tab
    4. Update individual apps as you see fit, or tap "Update all"

    Sync Settings

Changing Syncing Settings for Email Accounts:

    1. Open the "Mail" application and select an account
    2. Press "Menu"
    3. Go to "Settings" and tap "Sync, Send & receive"
    4. Adjust the sync settings under "Sync schedule"

Changing Sync Settings for the Weather App:

NOTE: by removing cities / areas of no interest from the Weather app, the phone will sync less data, thus it will use less battery on the long run.

    1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Open the "Weather" application
    3. Press "Menu" and tap "Edit"
    4. Remove any locations that you don't wish to sync data for

    Disabling Data Sync:

    1. Swipe the "Status" bar down with two fingers
    2. Go to "Settings" > "Accounts & Sync"
    3. Clear the check boxes next to the sync features that you wish to turn off

    Connectivity Settings

    Disabling GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth:

NOTE: Given the fact that a phone's connectivity features can be the most prominent battery drainer, it's highly recommended that you disable all the connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and / or GPS.

    1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings" > "Locations"
    3. To disable the GPS, clear the check box next to "Location sources"
    4. Return to the home screen and swipe the "Notification" bar down with two fingers
    5. Tap the "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth" tiles to disable these features

    Enabling Sleep Mode:

NOTE: when sleep mode is enabled, your phone will automatically disable all connectivity features after a certain period of time of inactivity. The device will then resume and reconnect once you wake it up.

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Swipe to "Phone" and touch "Power"
    4. Tap "Sleep mode" to enable the feature
