    Backing Up Data

    Backing Up Applications:

    1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Go to "Settings"
    3. Swipe to "Backup and reset". NOTE: to back up your apps you need to be logged in with a Google account. To add one, tap "HTC Account" > "Add account" and follow any additional steps
    4. Mark the "Backup my data" and "Backup accounts" check boxes, if necessary

    Backing Up Contacts:

    1. Open the "People" application
    2. Access the "People" tab
    3. Press "Menu" and tap "Manage contacts"
    4. Tap "Import / Export contacts" > "Export to phone storage"
    5. If necessary, select an account and then tap "OK"

    Backing Up Media Files on a Windows PC or a Mac:

    1. Connect the HTC Desire 510 to your computer via USB
    2. On a Windows machine, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer" from the AutoPlay window. On a Mac, the phone's virtual drive icon should appear on the desktop
    3. Go to your phone's storage ad locate the files you wish to back up
    4. Copy the files and paste them in the desired backup location on your computer
    5. After the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray (Windows) and click "Eject". On a Mac, drag the phone's virtual drive icon and drop it in the "Trash / Eject" bin
    6. You can now safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer

    Restoring Personal Data

    Restoring Applications:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Tap "Settings" and access "Accounts & sync"
    3. Press "Menu" and then tap "Sync all"

    Restoring Contacts from Storage:

    1. Launch the "People" application
    2. Go to the "People" tab and press "Menu"
    3. Tap "Manage contacts"
    4. Tap "Import / Export contacts" > "Import from phone storage
    5. Choose the type of account you want to use for contact restore

    Restoring Media Files from a Windows or Mac Computer:

    1. Establish a connection between your Desire 510 and Windows or Mac via USB
    2. On a Windows machine, click to "Open device to view files" from the AutoPlay window. On a Mac, double-click the Desire 510 virtual drive icon from the desktop
    3. In a separate explorer window, navigate to where the media files have been backed up on your computer
    4. Copy the desired backed up files, and paste them on your phone's storage in the appropriate folders
    5. Once the transfer is done, click "Safely Remove Hardware" from the system tray and click "Eject" (Windows). If you're using a Mac, drag the Desire 510 virtual drive on top of the "Trash can / Eject" icon
    6. You can now safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
