Clearing an Application's Cache or Data:

NOTE: In case one of your applications isn't working properly, then you can try and fix it by clearing the app's cache, or data.

WARNING! Clearing an application's data will result in the deletion of all personal data stored within the app, including login information, saved games, settings, credit card information, high score, profiles etc. As such, it's recommended that you first try and solve these issues by clearing the app's cache

    1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Tap "Settings" and scroll to "Device"
    3. Tap "Apps" and swipe to "All", "Running" or "Downloaded"
    4. Select the desired application
    5. Tap "Clear cache"
    6. If clearing the cache hasn't helped, tap "Clear data" too and press "OK" to confirm

    Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:

NOTE: Assuming that your phone is not working as intended and causes issues, freezes, crashes etc. then you might be able to fix these issues while avoiding master resetting your handset, by wiping its cache partition. Unlike a master reset, wiping the cache will not delete personal data stored on the phone's internal memory. To wipe the cache:

    1. Turn off the smartphone
    2. Press and hold the "Volume Up" and "Power" buttons at the same time
    3. When the "ZTE" logo appears on the screen, release the hardware keys
    4. At the recovery screen, press "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "wipe cache partition"
    5. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
    6. Wait for your device to display the "Cache wipe complete" message
    7. Press "Power" with "Reboot system now" selected, and wait for your smartphone to reboot

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition hasn't helped and you're now considering factory resetting the ZTE ZMAX, then visit this thread for a full guide

    Safe Mode:

NOTE: Safe mode allows the user to reboot the smartphone without third party support. As such, in case you have installed a malicious app that prevents you to uninstall it while running, reboot your device in safe mode and then easily remove the app, as explained below:

    1. With your smartphone turned on, press and hold the "Power" key
    2. Tap and hold the "Power off" option until a dialog box appears
    3. Press "OK" to confirm rebooting in safe mode
    4. After the phone reboots in safe mode, tap "Apps" while on the home screen
    5. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
    6. Tap "Apps" and swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
    7. Select the desired app and tap "Uninstall"
    8. Press "OK" to confirm
    9. To exit safe mode, press and hold the "Power" button
    10. Tap "Restart" and press "OK"
