    View the Amount of SD Card Space:

    1. With the SD card installed, press "Menu" while viewing the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings" and access the "More" tab
    3. Tap "Storage"
    4. The "Available space" value is displayed under "SD Card"

    Formatting the SD Card:

    WARNING! Formatting the SD card will result in the deletion of all data stored on it. Before proceeding, back up your data if necessary. To format the SD card:

    1. Press "Menu" while viewing the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings" and access the "More" tab
    3. Tap "Storage"
    4. Tap "Format SD card" under "SD card"
    5. Press "Format SD card" again to confirm

    Set the Default Memory Location for App Data

    NOTE: Most pre-loaded applications are set to store data on the phone's internal storage, but you can change this setting for each individual app, in order to use the SD card instead.

    Camera App:

    NOTE: If this is the first time you open the Camera app, you should be prompted to select the default memory between internal and SD card. Select SD card and tap "OK". If you've already set the app to use the internal memory, you can switch by following the steps below:

    1. Launch the "Camera" application
    2. Press the "Menu" button and tap "Settings"
    3. Tap "Settings" again
    4. Swipe to and tap "Storage" and select "Memory card"

    Voice Recorder App:

    1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
    2. Launch the "Voice recorder" application
    3. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings"
    4. Tap "Storage" and select "Memory card"

    Internet App:

    1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Launch the "Internet" app and press the "Menu" button
    3. Swipe to and tap "Settings" > "Content settings"
    4. Tap "Default storage" and select "Memory card"

    Nearby Devices (DLNA):

    1. Press "Menu" while viewing the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings" and access the "Connections" tab
    3. Tap "Nearby devices" and select "Download to"
    4. Choose "SD card"

    Transferring Files

    Transfer data from Internal Storage to SD card:

    1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen and launch the "My Files" app
    2. Tap "All files" > "Device storage"
    3. Locate the files you wish to transfer to the SD Card
    4. Mark the check boxes associated with the items you want to transfer
    5. When ready, tap the "Menu" icon located in the top-right corner and select "Move". To create duplicate files, tap "Copy" instead
    6. Tap "SD memory card" and navigate to where you wish to transfer the selected items
    7. Tap "Move here" or "Paste here"

    Transfer Files from the SD Card to the Internal Storage:

    1. Tap "Apps" and launch "My Files"
    2. Tap "All files" and select "SD memory card"
    3. Locate the desired files on the SD card, and mark the check boxes next to them
    4. Press the "Menu" icon located at the top-right corner and select "Move" or "Copy"
    5. Tap "Device storage" and navigate to where you wish to transfer the files or folders
    6. Tap "Move here" or "Paste here"

    Transfer Files between a Windows Computer and SD Card:

    1. Connect your smartphone to your computer via USB
    2. From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "USB connected" > "Connect USB storage"
    3. In the AutoPlay window on your computer, click "Open folder to view files" > "OK"
    4. Open the SD card directory
    5. Launch a second Windows Explorer window and either locate the files you wish to transfer to the SD card, or go to the location where you wish to transfer the files from the SD card to your computer's HDD
    6. Perform the necessary transfer and when done, click the "mass storage device" icon from the system tray to eject the phone
    7. Safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer

    Transfer Files from a Mac Computer to the SD Card:

    NOTE: Skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac

    1. Launch the Internet browser on your Mac and navigate to Kies
    2. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on your Mac
    3. Connect your Galaxy V to your Mac via USB
    4. Swipe the "Status" bar down and connect the smartphone as a media device
    5. Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory"
    6. In Kies, navigate to where you wish to add the files to the SD Card
    7. Using the Mac's file explorer, locate the items you want to transfer to the SD card
    8. Drag the items and drop them in Kies
    9. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone's storage from the Mac's desktop, and safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
