WARNING! Master resetting your smartphone will return all settings to factory values, and will remove all personal data stored on the phone's internal memory, including downloaded apps, audio files, custom ringtones, photos, contacts etc. Before proceeding, it's recommended that you back up your data.

NOTE: To learn how you can back up and restore data on the Desire EYE locally or via HTC Backup, click the link.

Master Reset Using the Settings Menu:

    1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Go to "Settings"
    3. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"
    4. Choose to turn "Automatic backup" and "App data and settings restore" ON or OFF. Also, if you tap "Back up now", select to "Use mobile data connection" or "Switch to Wi-Fi connections"
    5. Tap "Reset phone"
    6. In case your phone is lock screen enabled, enter the screen unlock information to proceed
    7. Optionally, mark the check boxes associated with "Erase SD card" and "Erase all data". WARNING! Checking "Erase SD card" will delete the content on your phone's SD card, including any possible backup files you may have created prior to following this guide
    8. Review the "Warning" message and tap "OK" to start the reset process

Master Reset via the Recovery Menu (Using Hardware Keys):

NOTE: This method of resetting your phone is useful in case you are unable to access your device's settings menu (as described above). Once again, be advised that all the data stored on your phone's internal memory will be removed.

    1. Press and hold the "Power" key, and tap "Power off" to turn off your Desire EYE
    2. With your smartphone turned off, press and hold the "Volume Down" button
    3. Press and release the "Power" key, while continuing to hold "Volume Down"
    4. Once the three Androids appear at the bottom of the screen, release all hardware buttons
    5. From the "HBOOT" menu, press "Volume down" to highlight "Factory Reset". (NOTE: By default, "Fastboot" will be highlighted)
    6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option and confirm the master reset

    Checking for Software Updates:

NOTE: After you master reset your phone, certain software updates may be lost. As such, you should always check for updates after a fresh factory reset. To do so:

    1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings" > "About"
    3. Tap "Software updates"
    4. Press "Check Now". If a software update is available for download, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply it
