If you ever backup your contacts with gmail, you can easy to restore from it, therefore you need a third party tool to recover delete data from android. Coolmuster Lab.Fone for Android worked well for me. Maybe you can try it.

Nothing is more frustrating than losing your contacts off your Android phone, especially when you are in urgent need of calling somebody up. This most commonly occurs when you accidentally pressed the Delete button. Also, it can even happen right after you set Android phone to factory default settings, update Android OS, root your Android, and so on. Fortunately, your contacts are not really gone. There are still ways to get the lost contacts backand not only that it can also help you restore data from Android internal memory and many more.

One way is, if you have added your Google Account to your Android device, all your contacts automatically stay in sync. You can make use of Google Account to restore Android contact list to the state it was in at any point within the past 30 days.

If you haven’t make a backup of your phone contacts, then there is other way which helps you to retrieve Android contacts. You can count on a third-party tool like Android contacts recovery. With it, you are able to recover contacts from Android phones like Samsung Galaxy SIII/S4/S5, Note II/3, HTC One, LG Optimus, Sony Xperia, Motorola Droid, etc. The program will deeply scan your Android device for deleted or lost contacts. Plus, you are allowed to preview the contact phone number, name, and email in details.

As the other OP suggested, i will also suggest to use Android data recovery tool, to recover the lost data and contacts from the SIM as well from SD card.

It is easier to recover lost data from a SD card than SIM card because the structure of SD card is similar to computer hard drive, which means there are a lot of tools available for data recovery. However when it turns to recover deleted contacts from SIM card, it is suggested to use a third party tool like Android Data Recovery from RecoveryAndroid. Note that you should stop using your phone when you lost your contacts by accident, otherwise you will have lost contacts overwritten by new data and never find back again.

If you are using an Android device, you can try this method.
Once your Android data get lost, no matter Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony or Motorola, you should stop operating your Android for adding or deleting Android data. For once you update those data, the Android backup file will be overwritten and what you lost can never be restore back.
Then connect your Android phone to computer and check if you have enabled USB debugging on your Android phone. If not, follow the ways below; If you did, you can move to the 3rd step now.

    1) For Android 2.3 or earlier: Enter "Settings" < Click "Applications" < Click "Development" < Check "USB debugging"
    2) For Android 3.0 to 4.1: Enter "Settings" < Click "Developer options" < Check "USB debugging"
    3) For Android 4.2 or newer: Enter "Settings" < Click "About Phone" < Tap "Build number" for several times until getting a note "You are under developer mode" < Back to "Settings" < Click "Developer options" < Check "USB debugging"
Android Data Recovery empowers you to seletively choose which type of files to be scanned. If you want to recover Android contacts only, you can tick "Contacts" because it takes less time to scan only contacts than scan all the data.
Also, to save time, you can choose only scan the deleted Android files as below:

Now you are in step 3 - Device Detected, that means your Android has been detected by the program successfully. Here, you just need to click "Start" to analyze your Android device and wait for a few seconds.

When below window comes to you, you need to turn to your Android phone and click "Allow" popping up on the screen, until it disappear, and then back to the program and click "Start" to scan your Android for lost contacts.
After all contacts and messages have been scanned out, the program will remind you stop the scan, because it is a waste of time to scan all data. Then you can preview all contacts one by one in the scan result, mark those you want and click "Recover" to selectively save them on your computer.

recover deleted contacts from sim card

    hi

i gave sim card to shopkeeper to copy
contacts from it for fear they might get delted from me.but he was
careless and moved the contacts using bluethoot but didnt copied them.
    hence the contacts are deleted.

is it possible to get those contacts back again from sim card using
some recovery software like we do on computer hard disk or pendrive.
    thank you
