Prior to starting on this how-to, you will need to root your Samsung Galaxy Nexus. You can view a tutorial on how to do this here. You will also need to know how to load a custom ROM onto your Galaxy Nexus. By default, Facebook contacts cannot be synced with the People app on the Galaxy Nexus due to competition and conflict between Google and Facebook. This tutorial will allow you to bypass that limitation.

    ROM Setup

    1. Modaco has a ROM and updated ROM package that allows you to begin the process. Download both of these files from here.
    2. Connect your Samsung Galaxy Nexus to your PC via USB cable.
    3. Copy both the MCR ROM and add-on .zip files to your Galaxy Nexus' internal storage (SD card). Make sure that the files are in the root directory and remain unzipped.
    4. Unplug your Galaxy Nexus from the computer.
    5. Turn your Galaxy Nexus off.
    6. Reboot your phone by holding the volume up, volume down and power buttons simultaneously. Once the bootloader screen appears, release your hold on the buttons.
    7. Press the volume up button until the screen indicates 'Recovery Mode'. Hit the power button to select this option.
    8. After the Galaxy Nexus has booted into 'Recovery Mode', scroll down to the 'backup and restore' section by using the volume buttons. Select this option by pressing the power button on your phone.
    9. Select 'Backup' to allow your phone the opportunity to backup files before proceeding.
    10. After the backup completes, scroll and select 'Wipe Data'.
    11. Select the 'Flash zip from SD card', followed by 'Zip from SD card'.
    12. Select your ROM .zip file and proceed to let it flash to the device.
    13. After this is complete, follow steps 11 and 12 but this time select the add-on .zip file.
    14. After completing this step for both files, select the 'Reboot System now' option.

    Facebook Configuration

    1. You have now completed the hard part of this how-to. You now need to download the Facebook app from the Android Market.
    2. Once downloaded, open the app and navigate to 'Settings – Accounts and Sync – Add Account' and select the 'Facebook' option.
    3. Reboot your device again once completed. Upon reloading after reboot, your Facebook contacts should appear in the People section.
