WARNING! Once you master reset your smartphone, all settings will be restored to original factory values. In addition, all personal data stored on the phone's internal memory will be lost, including downloaded content, custom ringtones, apps, contacts, images and videos etc. Content stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

NOTE: Before master resetting your smartphone, you may want to visit this link for a full guide on how you can back up your personal data on the Samsung Galaxy Avant. Also, you can lean all about restoring data from this link

Master Resetting Through the Settings Menu:

    1. Make sure that all the important data on the internal memory has been backed up
    2. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
    3. Access the "Settings" menu
    4. Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Backup and reset"
    5. Optionally, clear the check boxes associated with "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore"
    6. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
    7. Assuming that your handset is protected by a PIN, password or pattern etc. then you'll need to enter the necessary information before moving on
    8. Lastly, tap "OK" > "Delete all" to confirm

Master Resetting Using Hardware Keys (Recovery Menu):

NOTE: In case your smartphone crashes, freezes or otherwise prevents you from applying a factory reset from the settings menu (as explained above), then you can still master reset your device through a combination of hardware keys and the recovery menu:

    1. If necessary, back up all your personal data
    2. Turn off your smartphone
    3. Press and hold the "Home", "Volume Up" and "Power" keys at the same time
    4. Once the phone vibrates, release the "Power" button but keep holding the other two keys
    5. At the "Android System Recovery" screen, release the "Home" and "Volume Up" buttons as well
    6. From the Recovery menu, press "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "wipe data / factory reset"
    7. Press "Power" to select the option
    8. Press "Volume down" to highlight "Yes -- delete all user data" and press "Power"
    9. Your device will now reset. Once the process is done, the "Reboot system now" option will be highlighted
    10. Press "Power" to reboot your device

    Updating Your Smartphone:

NOTE: After applying a factory reset, all software updates installed prior to the reset will be lost too. As such, it's highly recommended that you update your smartphone as soon as you finish resetting it. To do so:

    1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Swipe to "System" and go to "About device"
    4. Tap "Software update" > "Check now"
    5. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the software package
