NOTE: If your phone doesn’t work properly, it crashes, freezes etc. then you might be able to fix these issues by master / factory resetting the device.

WARNING! Master resetting a smartphone will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on the internal memory, including apps, contacts, images, ringtones, downloaded content, Visual Voicemail data and so on. All of the phone’s settings will be returned to factory values.

NOTE: Before you master reset your phone you might want to back up the data stored on the internal memory. Follow this link to learn how you can back up the data. Visit this thread for a full guide on how data can be restored.

    Master Reset via Settings:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
    4. Mark or clear the check boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
    5. Tap “Backup account” and if necessary follow the on-screen steps to create a Google backup account
    6. Tap “Factory data reset”
    7. Optional: In the “Warning” window, choose to “Erase SD card” too
    8. Tap “Reset phone” > “Erase everything”
    9. Tap “OK”

Master Reset using Hardware Keys (Recovery):

NOTE: In case you are unable to master reset your phone using the method above, you can try resetting it from the recovery menu. You can access the recovery menu by performing the following steps:

    1. Turn off your smartphone
    2. Press and hold the “Power” and “Volume down” buttons at the same time
    3. At the “LG” logo, release and re-hold the “Power” button
    4. When “Factory data reset” appears, release all hardware keys
    5. Use “Volume down” to navigate to and highlight “Yes”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. When “Erase all user data and restore default settings” pops-up, use “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
    8. Press “Power" to select the option and reset your phone

    Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: After a fresh factory reset you might want to check for software updates and ensure that your phone is up to date. To do so:

    1. Tap “Apps” while on the home screen
    2. Go to “Settings” and access the “General” tab
    3. Swipe to and tap “About phone”
    4. Tap “Check now” if necessary and if a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
