WARNING! Performing a master / factory reset on your phone will result in the deletion of all your personal data stored on the internal memory, including contacts, downloaded content, media files etc. All settings will also be returned to default, factory values.

NOTE: Follow these links if you want a full guide on how you can back up and how you can restore data on the HTC One ME.

    Master Reset via Settings:

    1. On the home screen tap "Apps"
    2. Access "Settings" and swipe to "Personal"
    3. Tap "Backup & reset"
    4. Check or clear the boxes associated with "Backup my data" and "Automatic restore"
    5. Tap "Reset phone" and assuming your device is protected by a PIN / password / lock screen then enter the required security credentials to proceed
    6. Optionally tap "Erase SD Card". WARNING! This will remove all personal data stored on the SD / external memory too
    7. When ready, tap "OK" until you are warned about the master reset. Then tap "OK" to confirm

Master Reset Using Hardware Keys (Via Recovery Menu):

NOTE: Use the following method of master reset in case you are unable to perform the reset by following the steps above.

    1. Press and hold the "Power" button
    2. Tap "Turn off"
    3. Press and hold "Volume Down", then press and release the "Power" key while keep holding Volume Down
    4. Release the "Volume" key when you see a black screen with blue lines of text
    5. From here, use the volume buttons to navigate to and highlight "Factory reset"
    6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option and reset your phone

Check for a New Software Version:

NOTE: After you master reset your phone you should check for new software updates. To do so:

    1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
    2. Go to "Settings"
    3. Under "Phone", tap "About"
    4. Tap "Software information" > "Check now"
    5. Assuming a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
