WARNING! When you master reset your phone all of the personal data stored on the internal memory will be lost, including ringtones, media files, downloaded content, contacts etc. However content stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

NOTE: Visit this link to learn how you can back up your data before proceeding with the master reset. You can check out this link for a full guide on how you can restore data.

Master Reset from the Settings Menu:

    1. Tap “Apps” while viewing the home screen
    2. Access “Settings”
    3. Press “Menu” > “List view” and swipe to “Personal”
    4. Tap “Backup & reset” and tick the check boxes associated with ”Automatic restore” and “Back up my data”
    5. Tap “Backup account” and if necessary, add a Google account by following the on-screen steps
    6. Tap “Factory data reset”. Optionally, tick the “Erase SD card” box. WARNING! This will format the SD card and you will lose all data on it
    7. Tap “Reset phone” > “Next”
    8. Tap “Delete all” > “OK” to confirm

Master Reset via Recovery (Hardware Keys):

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or for other reasons doesn’t allow you to perform a master reset from the settings menu, you can also try resetting the device from recovery. This is done through a combination of hardware key presses, as follows:

    1. Make sure your phone is turned off
    2. Press and hold “Volume Down” and “Power” at the same time
    3. When you see the “LG logo”, release and quickly re-hold the “Power” button
    4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, press “Volume down” to navigate to and highlight “Yes”
    5. Press “Power” and the highlighted option will be selected
    6. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Erase all user data and restore default settings”
    7. Press “Power”, press “Volume Down" to highlight “Yes”
    8. Press “Power” again and wait for the phone to reset and reboot

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After a fresh master reset you should check to see if newer software versions are available for your device.

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Access the phone’s “Settings” screen
    3. Press “Menu” > “List view”
    4. Swipe to and tap “About phone”
    5. Tap “Check now” and assuming a new update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
