WARNING! Master resetting your phone will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on it, including downloaded apps, images, ringtones, contacts etc. All settings will be restored to factory settings. Create backups before proceeding if necessary.

NOTE: To learn how you can back up & restore data on the Samsung Galaxy S6 before the factory reset, follow this link.

    Master Reset via Settings:

    1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
    2. Go to "Settings"
    3. Swipe to "Personal"
    4. Tap "Backup and reset"
    5. Optionally, move the "Back up my data" and "Restore" sliders "ON" or "OFF"
    6. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
    7. Assuming your phone is protected by a lock screen / PIN / password, enter it and tap "Continue"
    8. Tap "Delete all" to confirm

Master Reset using Hardware Keys (Recovery Menu):

NOTE: Use this method of resetting in case the guide above isn't applicable to you. If your phone freezes, crashes or otherwise doesn't allow you to access and reset from the "Settings" menu, follow the steps below to apply the reset via Recovery

    1. Turn off your smartphone
    2. Press and hold the "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" buttons at the same time
    3. When the phone turns on and displays "Power on logo", release all buttons and you should see an Android icon. The "Android System Recovery" should pop-up roughly 30 seconds later
    4. In the Recovery menu, press "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "Wipe data / factory reset"
    5. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
    6. Press "Volume down" to highlight "Yes -- delete all user data"
    7. Press "Power" to select the option
    8. The phone should now master reset. At the "Reboot system now" message, press "Power" to restart your smartphone
