Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as it should, or takes up too much space, you can clear the app’s cache / data to try and fix these issues.

WARNING! Clearing an app’s data will remove all personal data stored within the app, including login information, settings, profiles, credit card information, saved games etc. To avoid losing data, try clearing the cache first.

1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
2. Go to “Settings”
3. Swipe to “Applications” and tap “Application manager”
4. Swipe to the “All” or “Downloaded” screen
5. Select the desired application
6. Tap “Clear cache”
7. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “OK”

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If you’re experiencing issues with your phone and you’re considering master resetting it, you might be able to fix the problems by wiping the cache partition instead. Unlike a factory reset, wiping the cache does not remove personal data stored on the internal memory.

1. Turn off the smartphone
2. Press and hold “Volume Up”, “Home”, and “Power” at the same time
3. When the phone vibrates, release “Power” and “Home” but keep holding “Volume Up”
4. When the “Android System Recovery” menu appears, release “Volume Up” as well
5. From the recovery menu, press “Volume Down” repeatedly until you highlight “wipe cache partition”
6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
7. Once the cache partition is wiped, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
8. Press “Power” to restart your device

Reboot in Safe Mode to Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third party apps causes problems and prevents you from uninstalling it, you can easily remove it by first rebooting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode all third party apps are disabled.

1. Turn off the phone
2. With the device powered off, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
3. When the “Samsung” logo pops-up, release the “Power” button but keep holding “Volume down”
4. When the device finishes rebooting, release all hardware keys. NOTE: A “safe mode” label should be displayed in the lower-left corner
5. To remove an app, go to “Settings”
6. Swipe to “Applications” and tap “Application manager”
7. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
8. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm
9. To exit safe mode, press and hold “Power”
10. Tap “Restart”
