I send e-mails to my wifes Galaxy S4, which are all returned by MAILER DAEMON saying that the inbox is full. How can this be rectified or are there other reasons ?

I've done those steps. I've turned off the notification in the email setting (hotmail/gmail) but I still get an audible notification when a new email arrives. Very frustrating. The phone only began doing this recently so I thought it was a phone issue as opposed to an email account issue.

It may not be apparent how to stop notifications of new email message in the notification bar. Here's how to do it:

    1. Open the email app (this also applies to gmail)
    2. Select menu
    3. Settings
    4. select the email account
    5. Deselect notifications
