    NOTE: For a guide on how to back up data on the Samsung Galaxy J7, visit this thread.

    Restore App Data:

    1. If necessary, sign in with the Samsung or Google account used for backing up app data
    2. Access the “Settings” menu
    3. Scroll to “User and Backup”
    4. Tap “Accounts”
    5. Select either “Samsung” or “Google” depending on the type of account used for the initial backup
    6. Tap your “email address” at the top of the screen
    7. Tap “Sync all”
    8. Tap “Back” to return to “User and Backup”
    9. Under “Backup and Restore” clear / check the boxes associated with “Automatic restore” and “Back up my data”

    Restore Contacts from a Google / Samsung Account:

    1. Sign in with the Samsung or Google account containing the backup
    2. Go to “Settings”
    3. Under “User and Backup” tap “Accounts”
    4. Select “Google” or “Samsung” depending on the type of account you used when creating the backup
    5. Tap your “email address” at the top
    6. If necessary, enable “Sync Contacts”
    7. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

    Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Galaxy J7 to your computer via USB
    2. Enable “Media device (MTP)” from the “Status” area
    3. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, double-click “Open device to view files”
    4. Launch a second Explorer window and locate the media file backup on your computer
    5. Copy the desired files from the computer and transfer them in the first Explorer window on your phone storage
    6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the computer via the system tray, and safely disconnect the device from the USB

    Restore Media Files from a Mac:

    1. Use the USB cable to connect the Galaxy J7 to your computer
    2. Swipe the “Status” bar down and enable “Media device (MTP)”
    3. Launch Kies on the Mac and access the “Back up / restore” tab
    4. Go to the “Restore” tab
    5. Click the boxes next to “Music”, “Photos”, or other types of media files you want to restore
    6. Click “Restore” and follow the on-screen prompts to restore the desired media files
    7. After the transfer is complete, drag the phone storage to the “trash can” and safely disconnect the device from the USB
