Clear App Cache and / or Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work properly, you might be able to fix the issue by clearing the application’s cache and / or data.

WARNING! Unlike when clearing the cache, clearing an app’s data will also remove all your personal information stored within the application, including saved games, login and credit card information, profiles, high scores etc. As such you should first try clearing the cache.

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
    4. Go to “Downloaded” or “All”
    5. Select the desired app and tap “Clear cache”
    6. If you’re still experiencing issues, tap “Clear data” too and press “OK” to confirm

    Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, you should try fixing the problems by wiping the cache partition instead. Unlike a factory reset, wiping the cache will not remove any personal data stored on the internal memory.

    1. Turn off the device
    2. Press and hold “Power”
    3. After a couple of seconds, press and hold “Volume Up” too
    4. Release both buttons when you see the “Select Boot Mode” screen
    5. Make sure “Recovery Mode” is highlighted and press “Volume Up” to select the option
    6. In short time you should see an Android robot on the screen. Press and release “Volume Up” + “Power” at the same time
    7. The phone should now be in the “Android System Recovery” menu
    8. From here, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “wipe cache partition”
    9. Press “Power” to select the option and clear the cache. When prompted, reboot your phone

NOTE: In case clearing the cache did not solve the problems, you can visit this thread for a full guide on how to reset the ZTE ZMAX 2.

Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: In case one of your third party applications causes problems and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to dispose of it from Safe Mode. In this mode all third party apps are disabled.

    1. Press and hold “Power” with the screen turned on
    2. From the pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
    3. At the “reboot to Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK”
    4. Wait for the phone to reboot. A “Safe Mode” label should be displayed on the home screen
    5. To uninstall the app, go to “Settings”
    6. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
    7. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
    8. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
    9. To exit safe mode, reboot you phone as you normally would, by pressing and holding “Power”
