    Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps doesn’t work as intended or simply takes up too much space, you might be able to fix these issues by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all personal information saved within the app will be removed, including credit card and login information, saved games, profiles, high scores etc. As such you should first try clearing the app’s cache first.

    1. One the home screen, tap “Apps”
    2. Go to “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Applications” and tap “Application manager”
    4. Swipe to “Downloaded” or “All”
    5. Select the desired application
    6. Tap “Clear cache”
    7. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK”

    Wipe Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering master resetting it, you should try clearing the cache partition first. Doing so can solve similar issues as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory. To wipe the cache:

    1. Turn off the phone
    2. Press and hold “Volume Up”, “Home” and “Power” at the same time
    3. Once the phone turns on and shows “Power”, release all hardware buttons
    4. Roughly 30 seconds after the Android icon appears, your phone should boot in in Android System Recovery
    5. From the recovery menu, press “Volume down” to highlight “wipe cache partition”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. Once the cache is wiped, “Reboot system now” will be highlighted
    8. Press “Power” to reboot your phone

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how you can master reset the Galaxy J5.

Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, all third party applications are disabled. To reboot in Safe Mode:

    1. Turn off the phone
    2. Press and hold “Power”
    3. At the “Samsung” logo, release the “Power” button, and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
    4. Keep holding the volume key pressed until the phone finishes rebooting. Once done, a “Safe mode” label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
    5. To remove an app, first go to “Settings”
    6. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
    7. Tap “Application manager”
    8. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
    9. Tap “Uninstall” twice to confirm
    10. To exit safe mode, simply press and hold “Power” and tap “Restart”
