    Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your third party apps doesn’t work as intended, you might be able to fix the issues by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! Clearing an application’s data will remove all personal information stored within the app, such as saved games, profiles, credit card and login information, high scores etc. However, by clearing the app’s cache first, you could fix the problems without losing any of your personal data.

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
    4. Swipe to “All” and select the desired application
    5. Tap “Clear cache”
    6. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “OK”

Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to easily uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. When you reboot your phone in Safe Mode, all third party apps are disabled.

    1. Wake up the screen and press & hold “Power”
    2. In the “Phone options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
    3. When prompted to “Reboot to safe mode”, tap “Restart”
    4. Once the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
    5. To uninstall the application, first access “Settings”
    6. Tap “Apps” under “Phone”
    7. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
    8. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm
    9. To exit safe mode, press and hold “Power” and tap “Restart”

    Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone is unresponsive, runs out of storage inexplicably, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you might be able to fix the issues by clearing the cache partition. This can have similar effects as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data on the internal storage.

    1. Turn off the phone
    2. Press and hold “Volume Down” and “Power” at the same time
    3. When three Androids appear on the screen, release the buttons
    4. From the “HBOOT” menu, press “Volume down” to highlight “Recovery”
    5. Press “Power” to enter recovery
    6. Once in the Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “Wipe cache partition”
    7. Press “Power”
    8. After the cache is wiped, reboot your phone

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the HTC One A9.
