I know that there is a lot of discussion surrounding the inability to text back and forth with iPad and Android. I am hoping someone can answer a couple questions for me. Note, the Droid and iPad are both cellular activated.

1 - I have read that a new iPad iOS is coming out that will fix this problem. Is that true and if so, what version of iOS will the fix be in and when is it scheduled to be released? Also, what is the most recent iOS version in production today?

2 - Until a fix is deployed, what is the best option to text back and forth to and from iPad/Android? I don't want to use email or any other protocol, just a texting solution recommendation. If there is a texting solution, will it need to be installed on both the iPad and the Droid?
