Restore App Data:

1. Sign in with your Samsung or Google account (the one used for the initial backup)
2. Open “Settings” and go to “Accounts”
3. Select “Google” or “Samsung”
4. Tap your “user name” or “email address”
5. Tap “Sync all”
6. Go back to “User and Backup” and tap “Backup and reset”
7. Check / clear the boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”

Restore Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:

1. Open the “Settings” menu
2. Scroll to “User and Backup” and tap “Accounts”
3. Select “Google” or “Samsung”
4. Tap your “email address” and ensure that “Sync contacts” is turned on
5. Tap “Sync now”

Restore Contacts from an SD Card:

1. Open the apps drawer
2. Launch “Settings”
3. Tap “Contacts” under “Applications”
4. If necessary, tap “Contacts to display” > “All contacts”
5. Tap “Import / Export” > “Import from SD Card”

Restore Media Files

From the SD Card:

1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
2. Open “My Files” and tap “All files”
3. Select “SD card”
4. Tap “Menu” > “Select” and tick the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
5. Tap “Menu” > “Move” > “Device storage”
6. Go to the desired restore location and tap “Move here”. Alternatively, you can tap the folder name or “Create folder” to restore the files in a different location

From a Windows Computer:

1. Connect the Galaxy A7 to your PC via USB
2. Make sure the phone is connected as a “Media device (MTP)”
3. Open an Explorer window on the computer
4. Locate the media file backups on the PC
5. Copy the files and transfer them on the phone, preferably in the “Media” directory
6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray and disconnect it from the USB

From a Mac Computer:

1. Establish a USB connection between the Galaxy A7 and Mac
2. Swipe the “Status” bar down and enable “Media device (MTP)” if necessary
3. Launch Kies on the Mac
4. Click the “Back up / Restore” tab, and select “Restore”
5. Check the boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music”, and other types of media files you want to restore
6. Click “Restore” and if necessary, follow any additional on-screen steps
7. After the transfer is done, drag the phone’s virtual storage drive and drop it into the “Trash can” to eject it
8. Safely disconnect the device from the USB
