    Back Up Media Files

    On the SD Card:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Launch “My Files”
    3. Scroll to “Local storage” and tap “Device storage”
    4. Tap “Menu” > “Select”
    5. Find the media files you want to back up and tick the boxes next to them
    6. Tap “Menu” > “Copy”
    7. Tap “SD card” and navigate to the desired backup folder
    8. Tap “Paste here”

    On a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Galaxy A3 to your computer via USB
    2. Drag the “Status” bar down
    3. Make sure “Media sync (MTP)” is enabled
    4. Switch to the PC and open an Explorer window
    5. Locate the media files on your phone
    6. Copy the files, and transfer them in the desired backup location on your computer
    7. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB

    On a Mac Computer:

    NOTE: You should skip the first 3 steps below if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
    2. Visit Kies Support
    3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” to download and install Kies
    4. Establish a USB connection between the A3 and Mac
    5. On the phone, make sure “Media device” is enabled from the “Notification” area
    6. Open Kies on the Mac and access the “Back up / Restore” tab
    7. Go to “Backup”
    8. Tick the boxes next to “Photos”, “Music”, or other types of media files you want to back up
    9. Click “Backup” and wait for the process to finish
    10. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop into the “Trash can” to eject it


    Back Up App Data and Contacts

    Back Up App Data:

    1. Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings”
    2. Under “User and Backup”, tap “Backup and reset”
    3. If necessary, sign in with your Google account by tapping “Backup account” > “Add account”
    4. If necessary, enable “Backup my data” and “Backup account”

    Back Up Contacts on the SD Card:

    1. Ensure the SD card is installed on the device
    2. Open the apps drawer and tap “Settings”
    3. Tap “Contacts” under “Applications”
    4. If necessary, tap “Menu” > “Contacts to display” > “All contacts”
    5. From the app’s menu, tap “Import / Export” > “Export to SD card”
    6. Tap “OK”

    Back Up Contacts Using a Google or Samsung Account:

    1. Open “Contacts”
    2. Tap “Menu” > “Merge accounts”
    3. Choose “Google” or “Samsung account”
    4. Tap “OK” and your contacts will be synced with the selected account
